Didazoon haoae Shu & Han, 2001
Chordata
Vetulicolia
Vetulicolida
Didazoonidae
Early Cambrian
Qiongzhusi Fm, Maotianshan Shale
Chengjiang, China
Length: 20 cm
The Vetulicolians form an ephemeral group of early chordate from the Early to Middle Cambrian period. They superficially look like tadpoles with a trunk and a tail but do not seem to have possessed eyes or any other sensory organ, A big opening in the anterior portion of the trunk has been interpreted as a mouth and little openings from the side were possibly gills.
