The thelodonts form a group of paleozoic jawless fish characterized by a body covered with distinctive non overlapping tooth-like scales. The type species Thelodus parvidens from Europe is only known from scales but judging by their size compared to other species known from full body impressions, it must have a been a giant form measuring perhaps 1 meter long from mouth to tail.
