This small anthracothere from North America is also the best known member of the family. Thre other species are recognized in the genus Elomeryx: E. cluai from the Early Oligocene of Western Europe, E. crispus from the Lste Eocene-Early Oligocene of Europe and E. borbonicus from the Late Oligocene-Early Miocene of Western Europe.
