Known from a fragmentary skull, Acheroraptor dates from the latest Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous period and therefore is the youngest known dromaeosaur, closely related and probably very similar to its famous Mongolian cousin Velociraptor. With Dakotaraptor, it is one of the two dromaeosaurs known from the Hell Creek Formation.
