This Eurasian rhinoceros had a single horn on the top of its head. The exact shape of the horn is speculative as it has not been preserved by fossilization. The species E. sibiricum lived alongside mammoth and was especially adapted to the cold climate of the ice age. It was hypothesized that Elasmotherium is a the origin of the unicorn legend.
