A newly published paper by Baron et al., (2017) is drastically shaking up the 130 years old consensus on the division of dinosaurs into two major groups: the Ornithischia and the Saurischia. The new study takes a fresh look on the relationships between the Middle Triassic and Early Jurassic dinosaurs and related taxa revealing a sister group relationship between the Ornithischia and the Theropoda (forming the newly named clade Ornithoscelida) and leaving only the Herrerasaurids and the Sauropodomorphs within Saurischia.
