Parietobalaena was a small baleen whale (Mysticeti) distributed around the Northern Pacific region during the Miocene period. Several species have been described. P. yamaokai from the Middle Miocene of japan is known from an almost complete skeleton. Parietobalaena belongs to a now extinct family, the Pelocetidae, which is a sister taxon to the modern Balaenopteridae.
