Size: 30 cm long
Type Horizon and Locality: Early Silurian, Guodingshan Formation (Llandovery), Wuhan County, Hubei Province, China
Type Specimen: Holotype (fragmentary shield)
Originally described as a heterostracan from a rather poorly preserved specimen, Hanyangaspis ("Hanyang spine") turned out to be one of the earliest and most primitive member of the galeaspids.
