Type Specimen: USNM 336207 (a skull)
Hyracodon ("Hyrax teeth") was a pony sized odd-toed ungulate that lived in North America during the Eocene and Oligocene periods. Five species are generally recognized with H. nebraskensis being the best known (it was originally described in 1850 by Joseph Leidy as Rhinoceros nebraskensis).
