Conodonts are enigmatic animals which were known until the 1980s only by their unique set of "teeth". The discovery of soft part impressions indicate an eel like animal with V-shaped trunk muscles and fins. Today, conodonts are commonly classified as vertebrates, however this view is disputed by many specialists.
