This is a very basal theropod, more advanced than Herrerasaurus and Staurikosaurus but more primitive than Coelophysis. Known from nearly complete skeletons, it lived during the Late Triassic in what is now New Mexico and show some advanced avian features such as skeletal pneumaticity.
