This medium sized plesiosaur from the Early Jurassic of England was more closely related to the short-necked pliosaurids than the long-necked plesiosaurids. The generic name honors famous wildlife documentary presenter Sir David Attenborough. The type specimen of this animal, a nearly complete skeleton, was destroyed during World War II but casts of the fossil survived.
